IMPROVING NONPROFITS THROUGH COLLABORATION

Human Services Federation facilitates collaboration and partnerships throughout the nonprofit community in Lincoln.  When the nonprofit community works together and learns from each other all of them are able to more effectively and efficiently serve those in need.
And when those in need succeed, we all succeed.

HIGHLIGHTS OF SOME OF OUR CURRENT PROJECTS:

YOUTH THRIVE TRAININGS:
SUPPORTING YOUTH WORKERS TO HELP OUR YOUTH THRIVE

Those involved:  THE HUB, HSF, NEBRASKA CHILDREN FAMILIES FOUNDATION, JUVENILE JUSTICE REVIEW COMMITTEE
Youth Thrive is a training that helps youth workers ensure the developmental needs of young people and helps them get the support they need.  HSF and collaborators are hosting two trainings this Spring and both were completed with registrants within 3 days, with a waiting list for the next one.

MONTHLY MEMBER MEETINGS
COMING TOGETHER AS PROFESSIONALS, WORKING TOGETHER AS FRIENDS

Those involved:  HSF, various HSF members
HSF has lead the community in doing this for 30 years by hosting monthly meetings for our members and distributing a newsletter twice a month to over 800 agencies.  The better agencies know each other, the better they work together.

ARTISTIC COLLABORATIONS
CONNECTING THOSE WHO CAN FOR THOSE IN NEED

Those Involved:  HSF, Lincoln Arts Council
A new collaboration conceived by (LAC) Lincoln Arts Council.  LAC will reach out to HSF members interested in integrating more arts into their services and then match their own members to provide those services - such as writing, drawing, music.

HUMAN SERVICES CONNECTION - RADIO SHOW
EDUCATING THE COMMUNITY ON THE GREAT WORK OF LINCOLN'S NONPROFITS

Those involved: KZUM 89.3 FM, HSF, various HSF members
With the help of KZUM Radio, 89.3 FM, Human Services Federation launched their own radio show to highlight its members and educate the community at large about the great things all the nonprofits in Lincoln are doing.  Tune in every Thursday at 1:00 pm to listen and learn about what's happening in your community for ways to receive help or volunteer with one of our members. NONPROFIT EDUCATION
STRONGER NONPROFITS EQUAL BETTER CLIENT SERVICES

Those involved: HSF, various HSF members, various trainers
One of our core services is providing trainings on best operating practices and compliance issues based on our member's needs.  We get continual feedback on what they need to help them run their business more effectively and efficiently and find the experts that can help them create a stronger organization. This 'smooth operation' allows them to spend more time on what they do best - improving the lives of Lincolnites.

CONNECTING THE EMPOYMENT DOTS
CASE MANAGERS AND EMPLOYERS EXCHANGING INFORMATION

Those involved: Lincoln Business Task Force, Prosper Lincoln, HSF
This collaboration is spearheaded by Prosper Lincoln.  One of their activities is hosting a job fair twice a year, with dozens of employers and case managers getting information to each other about available jobs and people looking for work.  HSF and Prosper Lincoln also keep in communication on who's available to hire and be hired.
