Lincoln’s working families receive $4,310,910 in refunds—sets new record
The Lincoln CASH (Creating Assets, Savings, and Hope) Campaign announces a record year of increased help to Lincoln families through free tax preparation sites between January 26, 2008, and April 15, 2008. Qualifying working families and individuals claimed $1,556,228 of Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC) and total refunds of $4,310,910 with the assistance of more than 125 community volunteers and campaign partners.
The CASH Campaign is the work of a core coalition that includes foundations, nonprofits, community-based organizations, City of Lincoln and Lancaster County government agencies, institutions of higher education, the Internal Revenue Service, local financial institutions, businesses, and volunteers. The campaign focuses on helping working families maximize their financial opportunities and resources through various activities, and concentrates on helping eligible families receive the Earned Income Tax and Child Tax Credits.
